Nafisa Nasir Foundation trains, empowers women, youths in Kebbi

The Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation has empowered women and youths who underwent three months training in different skills, comprising tailoring, cosmetology, makeup, shoe making and catering.

In her address, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor and founder, NANAS foundation, Nafisa Nasir Idris expressed delight over the successful completion of the training, calling on the graduands to use what they learnt as a means of improving their lives and their families, as well be self reliant so as to shun idleness and step down the knowledge to others.

She thanked her husband, Dr Nasir Idris, for his support in improving the lives of the vulnerables in the State, calling on people to continue to support the government for more dividends of democracy.

Chairman of NANAS foundation, Aminu Attahiru, said the aim of the training was to eradicate poverty and idleness amongst young women and youth, adding that the foundation has trained 500 women and youths in different skills which if put into practice will sustain them throughout their lives.

The project coordinator, NANAS foundation Bashar Umar Ika,  and Sa’idu Buhari, Chairman Birnin kebbi Local Government Council , Dahiru Nayaya , congratulated and appreciated Nafisa idris for the initiative, saying it will go along way in reducing idleness in the society. They urged the graduands not to sell the items given to them but use them for the purpose meant, praying to Allah to bless the foundation to continue with such a gesture.

Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsin Mari who spoke on behalf of the State Commissioners announced a donation N10m to the foundation with another donation of 1 million naira from one Faruk Soja, a former councilor from Nassarwa.

Some beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen, thanked the wife of the Governor for her kind gesture, prayed Allah to bless her abundantly.

Highlights of the event were cash donations of 30, 000 thousand naira to graduands of cosmetology,cooking gas, sewing machines, shoe making machines and makeup kits to the graduands by the dignitaries, and presentation of certificates.
