Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force, have eliminated several senior Boko Haram commanders during coordinated air operations in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources told counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama that the precision strikes were conducted on 25 December 2025, following credible human intelligence on the movement of insurgents in the area.

The initial strike reportedly killed at least ten Boko Haram fighters, including identified commanders Abul Kaka, Ibn Mu’azu, Abu Muhammad, Ba Alhaji, Bakura, Modu, Abu Hassan, Kaka Alai, Abba Yakariye and Bamusa. Another fighter, identified as Ubaida, was said to have sustained critical injuries.

Sources added that a follow-up strike by Nigerian Air Force assets led to the elimination of three additional terrorists. Security officials said most of those neutralised were loyalists of Bafu, a notorious Boko Haram commander active in the Bama axis.

Operational assessments indicate that the strikes have dealt a significant blow to the group’s fighting capacity in the area, particularly among units aligned with Bafu.

Although the security situation in Bama is currently calm, officials cautioned that the environment remains unpredictable due to the evolving nature of insurgent activities in the region.
