The Lagos State Government is yet to officially flag off the compensation exercise for residents affected by the Oworonshoki demolition.
The residents were told to converge at the Oloworo Palace for 10 am, but as of the time of filing this report at past 1 pm, officials of Lagos state have yet to kick off the compensation.
Journalists have been told that the wait is caused by delay from the financial institution saddled with the job of raising cheques for affected residents.
According to government sources, the flagoff, initially slated for 10am, will now be held at 2pm.
Recall that more than 70 residential buildings were demolished at Ajileru, Ososa Extension, and Toluwalase Streets, barely days after a Lagos High Court order restrained the state government and its agencies from carrying out any further demolition in the area.
The affected residents, comprising males, females and children, are currently still gathered at the Palace.
