The Lagos state ministry of agriculture has buried seized poisonous cow skins popularly known as “ponmo”.
The N10 million naira worth of poisonous ponmo which was supposed to be burnt had to be buried due to wet weather in the Ikorodu part of Lagos state.
The state task force on environment and special offenses enforcement unit and officers of the Nigeria police discovered the factory where the “poisonous ponmo” were stored at College Road, Igando.
Health experts say bonfire made from Jamaica rubber used in processing cow skins emits “thick toxin smoke” which is harmful to health.
