Medical Laboratory Scientists have called on the government to take charge in order to improve on the health workforce.
This they discussed at the 3rd national summit of the young medical laboratory scientists forum holding in Abuja.
The two -day meeting is expected to improve the knowledge of technology use for laboratory scientists in order to improve Nigeria’s health care system.
TVC News Kemi Balogun reports that Medical Laboratory Scientists or Clinical Laboratory Scientists play a crucial role in diagnosis, treatment and the management of patients in hospitals.
They perform complex testing using sophisticated instruments to detect diseases and monitor treatment.
Laboratory scientists are the third largest in numbers in the medical profession after doctors and nurses.
And this is the third time this gathering of young medical laboratory scientists will be meeting to find workable solutions for proper medical
diagnosis in Nigerian hospitals in order to improve the country’s failing health care system.
They are optimistic that the summit will help hospitals across the country improve on disease management through effective system strengthening. However, they believe that government needs to take charge in order to improve on the health workforce.
