Several people were injured on Saturday after a vehicle reportedly drove into a crowd attending an LGBT event in Berlin, prompting a major police response.

Berlin police, according to BBC said an intensive manhunt was underway to locate the driver and urged residents and visitors to stay away from the area.

The incident occurred at Tiergarten park, where emergency responders treated multiple victims at the scene.

Authorities have not disclosed the number of people injured or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the crash, organisers cancelled the annual Christopher Street Day Pride event.
