Kebbi State Government has paid over 422 million Naira as registration fees for 2024/25 academic session for 6,127 students of the state origin, studying in Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, UDUS, and the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, FUBK.
The breakdown shows that 211.6 million naira was paid for 3,922 students in FUBK, while 210.5 million Naira was paid for 2,205 students in UDUS.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, gave the figures at a News briefing in Birnin Kebbi, this Thursday.
He announced that Governor Nasir Idris gave the approval for the release of the funds.
“Payment of the fees has been made directly to the bank accounts of the two Universities”,
“Processes are being finalised to pay the registration fees of the 2024/25 academic session for all students, indigenes of Kebbi, studying in other tertiary institutions throughout Nigeria”,
“The gesture by the Governor is to consolidate on the policy thrust of incumbent administration to improve the education sector, and ease the financial burden on parents”, Tunga remarked.
