Kaduna,Taraba, Gombe to become HYPPADEC states

The activities of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) will now benefit three states, Kaduna, Taraba, and Gombe

The commission’s managing director, Abubakar Yelwa, disclosed this during a skills development training for staff in Ilorin.

The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission was established by the federal government to manage ecological challenges arising from the operations of Hydroelectric dams and other activities in the Hydroelectric Power Producing states.

Kwara, Niger, Benue, Plateau, Kebbi and Kogi are the member states.

During a skills development training for staff of the commission in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, the Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Abubakar Yelwa disclosed that three new states will be added to the list of the member states.

The training for staff of the commission is going on simultaneously in three centres across the country with the expectation that this will improve their efficiency.

In the meantime, the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission ( HYPPADEC) has commenced a skills acquisition training for 625 youths in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The programne tagged youth transformation programne (YTP) is designed to take the beneficiaries out of poverty.

Declaring the training open, the managing director of HYPPADEC, Abubakar Yelwa, said the programme is in line with the federal government’s policy frame work to take youths off the streets and subject them to life changing skills acquisition exercise

The programme is expected to give the participants the necessary skills to earn a living.
