In a major step towards modernising tax administration, the Kaduna State government has introduced Project CRAFT and the PAYKADUNA Portal.

These digital initiatives will create a robust and transparent revenue system for the state.

A workshop organised seeks to improve tax administration in Kaduna State through training, addressing systemic challenges, and leveraging digital technology.

Key issues highlighted included multiple taxes, poor administration practices, lack of a comprehensive database, tax touting, and complex tax laws.

A comprehensive, multi-faceted approach was proposed to tackle these issues.

This includes adopting best practices, simplifying tax processes, ensuring prompt tax refunds, deterring corrupt practices, and leveraging modern technology.

The introduction of Project CRAFT and the PAYKADUNA Portal marks a significant step towards creating a more streamlined and transparent tax environment in the state.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Hadiza Balarabe emphasised the importance of upholding public trust in tax administration.

Tax administrators were urged to build a system that is transparent, efficient, and fair—crucial for Nigeria’s financial stability, especially given the fluctuating income from oil.

As the state moves forward with these initiatives, the goal remains clear: to build a tax system that serves the best interests of Kaduna state and its residents
