Governor Malam Umar Namadi has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding road infrastructure across Jigawa State, with the launch of another major regional road project under the Gwamnati da Jama’a (Citizen Engagement) programme.
Speaking at the official flag-off of the Mallam Madori–Gari Uku–Kanya Babba–Malorin Kasim–Abori–Sumburtu–Diginsa Road in Mallam Madori Local Government Area, Namadi said the ongoing regional road construction initiative covers six key projects totalling 179 kilometres, at a combined cost of over ₦81 billion.

The six regional road projects include:
-
Mallam Madori–Gari Uku–Kanya Babba–Malorin Kasim–Abori–Sumburtu–Diginsa Road (34.5km)
-
Arbus–Girbobo–Garin Bukar Road (33.5km)
-
Dundubus–Yanjaji–Wangara Road (16.65km)
-
Jahun–Takalafiya–Zareku–Kafin Hausa with spur from Takalafiya to Dangyatum Road (38km)
-
Kukayasku–Malamaba–Katuka–Garin Kwalandi Road (34.5km)
-
Farun Daba–Maitsani–Baauzini–Kafin Chiroma–Gallu Babba–Gallu Karama–Karkarna Bye-Pass Roads (13.2km)
Namadi said the road projects are being rolled out to enhance connectivity, open up rural areas and improve access to markets for farming communities.
“It has been a tradition that in each of the local government areas we visit, we commission or flag off one major project,” the governor stated.
“Today, we are in Mallam Madori to flag off a 34.5-kilometre road at the cost of ₦18.5 billion. This road will serve seven farming communities that have long been hard to reach. It will enable them to convey their farm produce to nearby markets.”
He explained that the contract, awarded to Cosgrove Investment Limited at a cost of ₦18,512,046,998.68, has already recorded 35 per cent progress. He expressed optimism that the road would be completed within a year — ahead of its 18-month timeline.
Namadi praised the people of Mallam Madori for their cooperation and hospitality, assuring them that his government remains focused on delivering projects that directly impact citizens’ lives.
“Our focus remains on infrastructure, education, health, agriculture and job creation — key components of our 12-Point Agenda for a Greater Jigawa,” he said.
The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting Jigawa’s development efforts, noting that alignment with national priorities is strengthening progress across the state.
As part of his engagements in Mallam Madori, Namadi commissioned a newly constructed mosque in Garin Gabas, built with the support of the Local Government Chairman, as part of the administration’s investment in community welfare.
During the citizens’ engagement session, community leaders presented a compendium of the people’s priority needs, reaffirming the government’s commitment to participatory and responsive governance.
