The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a loan of more than N1.8 billion to support the state’s participation in the 2025 Hajj operations in Saudi Arabia.

Jigawa State Commissioner of Information, Sagir Musa Ahmad, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the state executive council meeting.

He claimed that the move is consistent with the National Hajj Commission’s guidelines for airlifting passengers.

The loan, totalling N1,832,724,197.59, will cover all necessary fees for the state’s intended pilgrims, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to supporting its citizens in fulfilling their religious obligations.

In another significant development, the council has also approved N608,677,770.06 for expanding vocational education in Jigawa State.

This funding will be utilised for constructing a state-of-the-art workshop at the Centre of Excellence on Technical and Vocational Studies in Garki LGA.

The project aims to enhance skills training for students, aligning with Governor Namadi’s vision to increase access to vocational education for youth in the state.
