The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has urgently called for the establishment of a mega CBT Centre in states with large populations, such as Lagos.
This comes in light of the significant number of UTME candidates, which stands at 1.94 million for the 2024 exams.
He made these remarks during an inspection of the ongoing JAMB exercise in Kaduna State.
Professor Oloyede emphasised the need for support from states like Lagos to construct such centres, citing the successful model in Kaduna that accommodates 4,000 candidates daily.
He further noted that despite the Board’s resources and readiness to build these centres, the desired response from various state governments has been lacking, underscoring the importance and urgency of the matter.
The JAMB Registrar cautioned against cheating, noting that possessing multiple National Identity Numbers (NIN) has enabled impersonations.
