The Office of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has disowned an article written by one of his aides, Sa’idu Enagi, titled “Malagi 2027,” which discussed political permutations ahead of the 2027 Niger State governorship election.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Minister’s office said the write-up and its contents were “vehemently disclaimed,” stressing that Idris had no involvement in the publication and did not authorise it.

The Minister reaffirmed that he remains fully committed to his duties at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and has “no room for political distractions”.

“The Honourable Minister neither directed nor approved the publication. Please disregard the write-up,” the statement read.

It added that Idris had ordered an immediate investigation into the matter and the aide responsible has been suspended with immediate effect.

The statement further noted that the Minister maintains a cordial working relationship with the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and warned that any speculation linking Idris to 2027 electoral ambitions was unhelpful.

It said such speculation was “inimical to the noble objectives” of cooperation for the development of the state.
