The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has sworn in six new Resident Electoral Commissioners.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The swearing-in of the six new Resident Electoral Commissioners completes the list of appointments across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, charged the newly appointed officials to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their duties in accordance with the electoral legal framework.

He reminded them of the critical role they play in Nigeria’s democratic process and emphasized strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding the Commission’s operations.
The new RECs are expected to be immediately deployed to their respective states ahead of forthcoming electoral activities.
