The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has congratulated the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) as it kicks off its 2025 Annual National Convention in Lagos.
The three-day convention, which began on Tuesday, July 30, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, is themed “Unlocking POWA Potentials and Transformational Leadership.” It is expected to run until August 1 and will feature empowerment sessions, sports activities, and special initiatives targeting the mental, physical, and economic well-being of members.
In a statement issued by the Force Headquarters, the IGP commended the association’s president, Dr (Mrs) Elizabeth Egbetokun, for her visionary leadership in repositioning POWA as a force for national development and family empowerment.
The event attracted dignitaries from across the country, including senior government officials, traditional rulers, diplomats, development partners, women leaders, and senior police officers.
The IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to enhancing welfare for both serving and retired officers, noting that initiatives like POWA’s convention are vital in supporting police families and strengthening community resilience.
