Armed bandits have kidnapped over fifty persons in Gidan Goga district in Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.
An eye witness said the bandits stormed the area with sophisticated weapons and went house to house and pick the Locals.
This is coming less than a week after armed me planted explosives device on Dansadau – Gusau road which led to the death of many.
Maradun local government area is located in Western Zamfara and is also the hometown of the Minister of state for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
Police in Zamfara have also confirmed the incident, adding that troops have been deployed to the area to restore normalcy and are on the trail of the abductors.
Residents of the affected communities are appealing to the federal and Zamfara state governments to come to their aid with security personnel as gunmen have continued to make life unbearable to them.
“We are calling on the authorities to look into our situation by deploying more troops to our area to mitigate these dreaded terrorists as our lives are in serious danger at this moment,” a resident said.
