In a condolence message, Governor Sani Bello called the occurrence as “sad and troubling,” and expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family members as well as the whole Munya local government region.

He expressed outrage at the unjustified attacks on innocent residents in these towns.

The Governor emphasised unequivocally that no matter how hard the criminals try to continue their heinous actions, the government will stay steady and unwavering in its efforts to abolish criminality in the state.

While praising the combined security operatives’ efforts and sacrifices, Governor Sani Bello urged them to continue wrapping up their activities and be more proactive in their operations.

He then prayed to God to forgive all those who had died and to give their families the strength to bear the loss.

The Governor also authorised the State Emergency Agency to immediately begin search and rescue operations, as well as to provide assistance to the remaining residents of the impacted villages.

Recall that some people including women and children were said to have drowned in Guni-Zumba River while trying to flee attacks on Guni and Kurgbaku communities in Munya LGA.

The attacks which were said to be simultaneous, forced the people to flee to safety in an overloaded boat which later capsized killing all on board as no one was said to be rescued.
