Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his appointment as the new Chief Imam Fulani of the Ilorin Emirate, describing him as a worthy choice for the revered religious position.
The governor’s congratulatory message followed the approval of Sheikh Dasuki’s appointment by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, after a rigorous selection process.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the Emir for choosing the 42-year-old Islamic scholar to assume the important responsibility of leading the Muslim faithful in the emirate.
The governor said the appointment of the youthful cleric reflects the commitment of the Ilorin Emirate to fostering inclusiveness and ensuring that different segments of the Muslim community are mobilised for collective progress and development.
According to him, the emergence of Sheikh Dasuki, an alumnus of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, underscores the emirate’s resolve to combine scholarship, vibrancy, and visionary leadership in advancing the interests of the Muslim Ummah.
