The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has praised troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade for their resilience and bravery in ongoing operations against Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.

Brigadier General Unachukwu gave the commendation during a two-day operational visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Chibok and its affiliated units  including 115 Task Force Battalion in Askira, 271 Tank Battalion in Michika, and 144 Battalion in Madagali.

Welcomed by Brigade Commander Brigadier General O.A. Adejoro on 24 June, the GOC received briefings on the operational situation and later addressed the troops, urging them to intensify efforts and remain proactive in the fight against insurgency.

He also stressed the importance of strong civil-military cooperation, calling for regular engagement with local stakeholders as part of non-kinetic measures to enhance security in the region.

As part of his visit, Brigadier General Unachukwu paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Askira, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu Askirama, at his palace. The GOC assured the royal father and residents of improved security, particularly during the ongoing farming season.

The Emir expressed gratitude to the military for restoring peace in the area, noting that many displaced persons had returned to their communities.

He commended the sacrifices of the troops and prayed for fallen soldiers.

The visit concluded with the commissioning of a newly renovated operations room at the Brigade Headquarters, carried out by Brigadier General Adejoro. The event was conducted without incident.
