Leading Niger Delta media powerhouse, GbaramatuVoice, has rolled out plans for its landmark 10th anniversary celebration, with a two-day event slated for August 27 and 28, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the organisation said the anniversary will feature two key events: a high-powered Public Lecture and the Niger Delta Night of Honour. Both programmes are designed to celebrate a decade of fearless journalism, cultural advocacy, and development-focused reporting across the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
The anniversary Public Lecture will kick off the celebration on Wednesday, August 27, at 10:30 am, with the theme, “Gaps and Silences in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Economy: Appraisal of Resource Control, Security and Media Dynamics.”
The session is expected to bring together high-profile stakeholders, including government officials, oil and gas industry leaders, security experts, academics, international oil companies (IOCs), diplomats, youth leaders, and media professionals.
According to the organisers, the lecture aims to spark robust dialogue around unresolved issues of resource control, national integration, environmental justice, and the role of the media in shaping narratives in the Niger Delta.
“Ten years of reporting from the creeks and communities of the Niger Delta has taught us that the real stories of oil, conflict, justice, and survival are often buried beneath national headlines,” the organisers said. “This lecture is a chance to bring those silences to the fore.”
The celebration will climax with the Niger Delta Night of Honour on Thursday, August 28. The glitzy evening will commence with a red carpet reception at 4:00 pm, followed by the main event at 5:00 pm. It will spotlight individuals, organisations, and cultural icons whose work has significantly contributed to the region’s peace, development, and identity.
Awards, cultural performances, and special recognitions will dominate the evening, celebrating resilience and excellence within the Niger Delta.

Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, GbaramatuVoice Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jacob Abai, said the event represents more than just a media milestone.
“This 10th anniversary is a celebration of truth, courage, and culture. It reflects ten solid years of reporting stories from the creeks to the capital—stories of resilience and hope, stories that challenge power and inspire progress,” Abai stated.
He further emphasised that GbaramatuVoice has remained a strong advocate for equity, justice, and development, amplifying marginalised voices and preserving cultural heritage.
Founded in 2015, GbaramatuVoice has evolved into a formidable pan-Niger Delta media platform with strong footprints in print, digital, and television media. Its reporting has focused on bridging information gaps between oil-rich communities and broader national and international audiences.
In the weeks ahead, the full list of speakers, awardees, and entertainers for the anniversary events will be unveiled.
