The factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and a staunch ally of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Edson Ehie, has resigned his position as factional Speaker and from the State House of Assembly.
His Resignation was contained in a letter he sent to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu.
In the letter dated 29th of December 2023, Honourable Ehie, said he is resigning from the position of Speaker and member representing Ahoada East Constituency II with effect from the date.

He did not however give any reason for his resignation from the Position of speaker or as member of the State House of Assembly.
He promised to continue to serve Rivers State in whatever capacity going forward.
