Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has commended gallant security forces for repelling attacks on villages in Numan local government area in the early hours of Sunday.
At least two persons were killed and six others injured when gunmen launched an offensive on Shaforon and Kudomti communities.
Locals suspected the attack was masterminded by herdsmen who had repeatedly raided them in the past but the police have blamed it on cattle rustlers.
In a statement issued on Monday by Solomon Kumangar, the Director-General Media & Communications, the governor said decisive action must be taken to ensure that peace is maintained in Numan and that attempts to bring back violence are crushed for good.
