The federal government has threatened to relocate the Federal University of Technology Oweri and other government institutions experiencing crisis in host communities.
Helen Osamede-Akins reports that the permanent secretary, federal ministry of education, Sonny Echono disclosed this while hosting the governing council of the federal university of technology Oweri in Abuja.
The federal university of technology Oweri, one of the firstt universities of its kind in Nigeria, was established in 1981. But the institution has been faced with issues that have slowed its growth.
Topmost among its challenges, is the alleged encroachment and Vandalization of facilities belonging to the Federal Government by indigenes of host
states and communities
This has threatened the security and lives of students and properties of the institution.
It is why the governing council of the institution has come to seek the intervention of the federal government .
The federal government is worried about the continuous threats to its institutions in some states, and is no longer prepared to fold its arms and
do nothing about the destruction done to its properties.
