The Federal Government is set to arraign Natasha Akpoti-Udaughan, the Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district, before Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja on a six-count charge of alleged criminal defamation and cyberbullying.
Senator Akpoti-Udaughan is accused of making criminal imputation to cause harm to the person of the Senate president and the former governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello.
The charges before the federal high court are similar to those at the FCT high court in Maitama where the senator pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
The difference between the charges is the provisions under which they were brought
That before the FCT High Court was brought under the Penal Code, while that before the Federal High Court was brought under the Cybercrimes Act.
