The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Miller G. Dantawaye, has redeployed and reshuffled Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the FCT Area Council Elections scheduled for Saturday, 21 February 2026.
The redeployment, carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, forms part of a broader security strategy designed to strengthen operational effectiveness and uphold professionalism before, during and after the elections.
CP Dantawaye charged the affected DPOs to discharge their responsibilities with utmost professionalism, impartiality and dedication. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring a free, fair and credible poll.
The Nigeria Police Force, FCT Command, also urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, and to actively participate in the democratic process by exercising their civic responsibility on election day.
The Command announced that there will be a restriction of movement across the FCT from 8:00 p.m. on 20 February 2026 to 6:00 p.m. on 21 February 2026, except for essential service providers and duly accredited election officials.
