The Football Association (FA) is set to retain Thomas Tuchel as England manager ahead of the 2028 UEFA European Championship despite the Three Lions’ semi-final exit at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development in a post on X, stating that there are no plans to part ways with the German tactician following England’s defeat to Argentina.

“The FA plans to continue with Thomas Tuchel as England head coach for next Euros,” Romano posted.

“No changes after defeat vs Argentina as the intention is to continue together.”

England’s World Cup campaign ended on Wednesday after a 2-1 defeat to defending champions Argentina in the semi-finals, bringing to an end an impressive run under Tuchel.

The Three Lions progressed from the group stage before edging past DR Congo in the Round of 32. They then defeated Mexico in the Round of 16 before overcoming Norway after extra time in the quarter-finals, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice to inspire the comeback victory.

However, England fell short against Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina, who secured their place in the final with a disciplined display to end the Three Lions’ hopes of reaching their first World Cup final since 1966.

Despite the disappointment, the FA remains satisfied with the team’s progress under Tuchel and is prepared to back him as England begin preparations for the 2028 European Championship.
