The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked claims that former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and murdered.

Instead, police investigations reveal that he was found dead inside his hotel room in Abuja under circumstances that remain under scrutiny.

According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, Mr. Parradang checked into the Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, on March 3, 2025, around noon, paying ₦22,000 for a one-night stay. He arrived in a black Mercedes Benz and later requested hotel staff to escort a female guest to his room. The woman reportedly left the hotel premises around 4:00 PM that same day. Mr. Parradang did not leave his room afterward.

Concerned about his whereabouts, a military officer friend visited the hotel at approximately 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025. Accompanied by hotel staff, they accessed his room and discovered him lifeless, seated in a chair. The police were immediately notified, and officers from Durumi Police Station arrived at the scene to document evidence and secure the area. His body was later transferred to the National Hospital for further examination. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to locate and question the last female visitor.

The FCT Police Command has urged the public to disregard misleading reports of abduction or assassination, emphasizing that spreading unverified information can incite unnecessary fear and panic. The command reassured that it is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death and will provide updates as new details emerge.

Mr. Parradang, who served as NIS Comptroller General, was at the centre of the 2014 recruitment exercise that led to a stampede, resulting in the tragic loss of 20 lives. After his retirement, he transitioned into politics, contesting for a senatorial seat in 2019 and running for Plateau State governorship in 2023.
