European football chiefs not ready to call off Euro 2020 despite threats posed by Coronavirus

European Football Chiefs have dismissed the threat posed by the Coronavirus outbreak to this summer’s European Championship and the rest of the European Football season.

UEFA Officials at Monday’s Executive Committee meeting in Amsterdam were determined not to panic, despite the growing disruption caused by the virus, which has led to five Series A matches being postponed last weekend and the Italian Cup final delayed until later in May.

The opening game of the Euro 2020 tournament between Italy and Turkey is due to take place in Rome on the 12th of June, but UEFA is not willing to make a quick decision and will act on the advice given to them by governments.

At the International Football Association Board meeting in Belfast, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, admitted that matches for the next International break could be under threat with the increase in number of reported cases of Corona Virus across the World.
