Former President of the Senate Ken Nnamani says the new electoral act has raised the confidence of Nigerians in participating in next year’s election.

The All Progressive Congress Chieftain spoke at the Frontier Discourse Lecture Series in ENUGU, the Enugu State capital.

Political observers have however attributed the Low participation of Nigerians in the Electoral processes to lack of trust in the nation’s electoral system.

Available data also shows that Out of 57 million registered voters in 1999 and 76 million in 2019, there was a sharp decline in the voting participation from 45% in 1999 to 23% twenty years after

At this town hall meeting and annual lecture series, former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, assures that the signing of 2022 electoral act by president Muhammadu Buhari will be the game changer to address those Electoral flows.

He said the 2022 Electoral Act signed by President Buhari should imbue the Electorate with the needed confidence to come out and elect leaders of their choice.

For His part, the Keynote Speaker, Okey Ikechukwu, challenged the youths to break the culture of silence and take advantage of the improve electoral system to elect leaders into Public offices.

He added that their is no better time than now to go out and ensure that credible leaders are elected in 2023.

Gubernatorial candidates of different political parties seized the platform to sell their campaign programmes on how to improve the Wellbeing of the people.

The candidate of APGA, Frank Nweke Jr, who is a former minister said the Youth and all Nigerians have a part to play in ensuring the election of credible candidates across the country urging them not to despair.

Convener of the lecture series, John Onochie Igweis, and a Public Affairs analyst, Okechukwu Okenwa, both seek stronger collaboration between the old and young generations, urging them to rise to the occasion to support the course of achieving a better society for all Nigerians.
