Ekiti trains PWDs on different vocational skills

About forty people living with disability are currently undergoing training in different skills, courtesy of the Ekiti State Government.

The Special Adviser, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Dr Ekundayo Moyo-John, who flagged off the Programme, in Ado, encouraged them to see abilities in their disabilities.

Dr Moyo-John, who emphasised that the present administration had been proactive in ensuring social inclusion, urged the beneficiares to take advantage of the training to become better persons in life.

He explained that the government would continue to do its best to ensure that no one was left behind in the shared prosperity agenda of the present administration.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Mrs Adetoun Agboola, in her keynote address, said that the Programme was a testimony to the commitment of the state government to the promotion of inclusivity and diversity.

She said that participants would be exposed to skills like problem solving and teamwork and Empowerment to excel in their chosen fields.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Peju Babafemi, represented by a director in the ministry, Mrs Olukemi Akinleye, also advised the beneficiaries to be attentive and make use of the knowledge that would be impacted in them.

The Special Advisers and guests at the event later inspected facilities at the Persons with Disabilities Skills Acquisition Center, at Ilokun, in Ado Ekiti where the training is taking place.

At the center were machines for shoe making, hair dressing, sewing, among others.
