Ekiti govt, EKSU management owe staff N10bn, SSANU alleges

The Senior staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Ekiti State University Chapter has called on the State Governor, Kayode Fayemi to defray Salaries, Allowances and Subvention owed the University and its Staff before he leaves office on the 16th of October.

The Union made this Disclosure at a Press Briefing in the University premises, on Tuesday,11th October, 2022.

The Union members which includes the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT),the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities(SSANU) Says they had been compelled several times to remain at their duty posts while their colleagues at the Academic Union went on Prolonged Strikes.

According to SSANU Chairman, the Union members have only received 40% Value of the Salary of May 2022,and clearly Subventions due to the University has been pending, Four Months in 2018, July to September 2022.

They Sum up all Salaries and allowances owed to 8.6 Billion Naira, Cooperative Societies Outstanding at 1.299 Billion Naira, Trade Union Check off Dues 1.227Million, while Gratuities owed Stands at 755Million Naira.

The Union is appealing to the Management and the Proprietor of the University (Government) to pay up before leaving office on Sunday, 16th of October 2022.

They Specifically urge the Outgoing Governor, Kayode Fayemi to make good his promises and pay a significant amount from what is owed the University, while Congratulating the Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji on his Mandate, they urge him to Start his Governance from the University of which he is an alumni.
