Chairman of Oredo local government area, Edo State, Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, has revealed that the fire that rocked the Oba Market on Wednesday, October 8 was caused by a solar panel.
According to Iduseri, the burnt part is currently under reconstruction
Wednesday fire incident made it the second time fire engulfed the Oba Market in five years.
The council chairman while addressing journalist after the market inspection, said only one shop was affected by the fire incident.
He stated that fire fighters, security agencies promptly responded to see that the fire did not spread to other parts of the market.
Iduseri however noted that traders would be banned from installing solar panels inside the market to avoid future fire outbreak.

He said, “We learnt solar panel caused the fire. We are going to stop installation of solar panels and check all the electrical wiring in the market.
“I want to assure that we will support the affected trader to get back to business. There is no so much damage. No lives was lost. Oredo local government was here and we put measures in place to prevent thieves.”
It was gathered that the affected trader reportedly collapse last night.
