An indication has emerged that about 1.4 million people in Benue State have being internally displaced as a result of incessant conflict, farmers – herder clashes, and bandits attack in the state.
The country director of Action Aid Nigeria, Andrew Mamedu, said this during a joint press briefing with Plan International to draw the attention of international community to the age – long crises that is believed to have stripped the state.
Mister Mamedu who was represented by the Action Aid Manager for humanitarian resilience, David Habba, claims that the spite of insecurity in Benue State is worse than what is happening in the North east.
He stresses the need for global community to acknowledge the on-going conflict and and pledge their push for peace, reconciliation as sustainable development in the region.
The representative of the Country director of Plan international, Helen Idiong, who is the director of program quality and influencing reveals that in the last 45 days, 3,806 households, about 26,176 people have received unconditional cash transfer while 3,507 households received non food items.
