A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a United Kingdom-based Nigerian woman, Ade-Coker Suzan Motunrayo Odunola, over an alleged ₦14.3 million fraud.
Justice Musa Kakaki granted the request today following an application by the prosecutor, Barrister Williams Tijani of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex, Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos.
Odunola is standing trial in charge number FHC/L/983c/2025. Prosecutors allege that she obtained ₦14,322,172 from one Raphael Salisu under the false pretence of securing a United Kingdom certificate of sponsorship for him.
The offences are said to contravene Section 1(1)(c) and are punishable under Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act 2006, as well as Section 390 of the Criminal Code Act, LFN 2004.
The case had come before the court on multiple occasions, but at the resumed hearing today, the prosecutor informed the judge that the defendant could not be located.
He subsequently urged the court to issue a bench warrant, citing several legal authorities.
Justice Kakaki granted the application and adjourned the case to 2 March 2026 for a report of compliance and the arraignment of the defendant.
