Corp member organises medical outreach for inmates, Staff

A National Youth Service Corp Member Serving in Zamfara Msugh Jeremiah Shimasaan has again Organized a free Medical outreach for inmates and staff of the Nigerian Correctional Service, in Gusau the Capital of Zamfara State

One hundred and fifty person’s benefited from the gesture which includes Screening for Covid-19, Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, Blood Pressure among other Tests.

Free drugs were also donated to the Beneficiaries and those with serious health cases were referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau

The medical outreach was conducted by qualified medical experts Including Doctors, Laboratory Technicians and medical team of the Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Board among other health personnel.

 

Msugh Jeremiah Shimasaan, a 26yrs old corps member with registration number ZM/21C/0446 had in August this year constructed and renovated Convinces, Ablution Points, Over head water tank and Suggestion Box in a Mosque in Gusau, Zamfara State where he is serving

He said the move to carryout the medical outreach was borne out of his passion for Humanitarian Service and also to extend hands of Love, selfless service to both the inmates and Staff of the Service

Some of the drugs according to him were donated by the Zamfara State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency

They Include, Unigen test kits, face masks, Sanitol hand wash, cotton wool, hand sanitizer, rubber plates and cups among other items

On his part, the commandant, Nigerian Correctional Service Zamfara State Command CC Umar Galadima represented by Yunusa Lawal commend the effort of the Corps member for putting smiles on the faces of the inmates, staff of the service and the host Community

Also, the Zamfara State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corp Mohammed Namallam Taura represented by Solomon Yohanna, Head of Servicom, NYSC Zamfara State thanked the Corp Member for his outstanding performance throughout his service year

The duo described Shimasaan as a young man with a heart of gold who is always willing to touch lives positively with the Little he has

In another development, Corp Member Msugh Shimasaan designed a Movable NYSC logo out of waste metal materials

This is the first time a corps member designed a Movable NYSC Logo

Material used to construct the NYSC Movable logo includes an old satellite dish, hi-hat stand (three-legged) and others light materials

The scrap materials were picked up by Jeremiah and innovatively restructured, welded, and painted using the diverse colours on the logo of the National Youth Service Corps, in order to achieve the desired result

He noted that the project was carefully supervised from start to finish by the Gusau Local Government Inspector (LGI) of the NYSC, Lawal Shaibu

At the completion of the project, Jeremiah Shimasaan presented it to the NYSC State Coordinator Mohammed Namalam Taura in his office at the NYSC State secretariat in Gusau

Mr. Namallam poured encomium on Jeremiah for his mastery in innovation and creativity, while encouraging him to keep up the good work

He also charge him to remain focus and creative even in other areas of life and future endeavours, while sustaining the zeal for selfless service

The Zamfara NYSC Coordinator challenged other corps members to embark on project that will touch the lives of the people especially their host Community so that their names can be written in gold and be remembered for good even after their one year Compulsory NYSC.

Msugh Jeremiah Shimasaan was a Student of English and Literary Studies from Benue State University, Makurdi.

He is a corp member of the 2021 Batch C – Stream 1 and is expected to round up his service year in October this year.
