Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has defended the growing wave of defections by opposition governors, senators, and lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a clear sign of confidence in the party’s leadership at the national level.

Speaking at a special Ramadan Iftar with APC stakeholders in Jigawa State, Governor Namadi attributed the trend to what he described as the effective leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Namadi argued that many opposition leaders now believe that aligning with the APC offers a better platform to improve the welfare of their people and attract development to their states.

According to the governor, recent political realignments across the country reflect a broader national consensus that the APC remains the most viable vehicle for governance and stability.

Governor Namadi also called for unity within the party in Jigawa State, urging aggrieved members to remain patient and work together for the progress of the state.

He noted that the recently concluded ward, local government, and state congresses were successful, describing them as evidence of the party’s strength and internal cohesion.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on its 12-point development agenda, which focuses on economic growth, social welfare, infrastructure, and job creation.

He appealed to party members across the state to continue offering constructive advice and support.

Former Jigawa State Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki commended the current administration for reconnecting government with grassroots communities, saying the approach has improved public confidence and access to governance.

Lawmakers and party stalwarts present at the event also pledged their continued support for Governor Namadi’s administration, stressing the need for unity to consolidate development gains in the state.

With political realignments intensifying ahead of future elections, Governor Namadi says the APC remains united and focused on governance, insisting that cooperation among party members will be key to delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians.
