Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria,  Olayemi Cardoso, says some of the apex bank’s staff initiated the voluntary disengagement with payment of full benefits.

He made this known at the investigative hearing on the bank’s retirement of 1000 staff amounting to N50 billion terminal benefits.

The ad hoc Committee investigating the forced retirement of 1000 CBN Staff resumed its probe.

The Committee was chaired by Chief Whip, Usman Kumo.

He implored all invited to provide needed information that will assist in the Committee’s assignment.

The CBN Governor was represented by Deputy Director Corporate Service, Bala Bello.

He explained that the issue of the early exit program and the restructuring as well as reorganisation are ways and means through which the performance of an organisation is optimised.

It is about ensuring that round pegs are put in right holes and that the manpower requirement of the bank is actually met.

To buttress its claims, the CBN presented the leader of the staff union, and wants the committee to interrogate him.

The meeting thereafter went into closed doors and journalists were not privy to what transpired.
