Image result for Buhari tasks judiciary on speedy trial of corruption, financial crimes casesPresident Muhammadu Buhari has charged the judiciary to designate specific courts to speedily try corruption and financial crime cases.

He made this suggestion when a delegation of Judges led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It was the first visit by the Judiciary to President Buhari since his return from medical leave.

The President was worried about issues concerning prison congestion and how this has impacted on the health of prisoners and the facilities provided for them.
He pledged to do more to enhance the welfare of judicial officers through a review of salaries, pointing out that this
government had increased in the 2017 budget, the budgetary allocation to the Judicial arm of government

Justice Onnoghen, on behalf of the judicial arm, expressed their joy and relief that the President had gotten over his
illness and prayed that he would soon recover to full health.

The visit is an indication that the two arms are now prepared to work towards ensuring that the anti- corruption war is fully and quickly prosecuted.
