The leaders of Africa’s biggest economies have come out to condemn the military take over of power in Zimbabwe.
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari called for calm, peace and respect for the constitution.
Buhari in tweet by his Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, also urged all political and military leaders in Zimbabwe to avoid any action that may plunge the country into conflict.
He wants the impasse in the country resolved constitutionally.
Similarly, South African President Jacob Zuma called for restraint and calm‚ and hopes the developments in Zimbabwe would not lead to unconstitutional changes of government.
Zuma was not only speaking on behalf of South Africa, but also for the Southern African Development Community‚ of which Zimbabwe is a member.
He urged the Zimbabwean government and military to resolve the political impasse amicably.
