The the Senate has passed a bill seeking to institutionalize the national social investment program.
The bill passed for third reading following the presentation of a report by the committee on special duties.
The chairman of the Senate’s committee on special duties presented his committee’s findings after several weeks of Engagement with relevant government agencies.
The national social investment program establishment bill which is an executive Bill seeks to provide a statutory and institutional framework for implementing the program.
The bill gets the nod of the Senate as other lawmakers agree that it will lay a solid foundation for poverty alleviation
in Nigeria.
The president of the Senate believes this is another milestone achievement of the Ninth National Assembly and the
Buhari administration.
The Senate also hopes the bill gets a speedy presidential accent and it will address the social economic inequality
among Nigerians and drastically reduce the poverty index in Nigeria.
