The Bank of Ghana says it is reviewing the processes of acquiring new microfinance licenses.
Under the new guidelines, the Central Bank increased the involvement of security operatives in banking services while intensifying financial literacy within the economy.

Deputy Governor, Ghana Central Bank, Milison Narh, said more than five hundred microfinance banks operate in the country.
He revealed that seventy of them have had their licenses revoked over irregular activities.
