The Nigerian Army has ramped up its nationwide counter-terrorism operations, carrying out a string of coordinated offensives between September 26 and 28, 2025, which led to the neutralisation of terrorists, rescue of kidnap victims, arrest of criminal collaborators, and seizure of weapons and stolen crude oil.
According to military operational updates, the intensive crackdown resulted in the elimination of multiple insurgents, rescue of five kidnapped individuals, arrest of 19 criminal suspects, recovery of seven AK-47 rifles, a Beretta pistol, two locally made rifles, and over 4,000 litres of illegally refined crude oil, alongside other arms and equipment.
Troops from the 195 and 222 Battalions stormed terrorist enclaves in Mafa and Konduga LGAs of Borno State, killing nine insurgents and recovering four AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, ammunition, and hard drugs.
In Adamawa, troops of 232 Battalion arrested a suspected ISWAP/JAS fighter and recovered an AK-47 with 19 rounds of ammunition. In Bama, two family members of ISWAP militants surrendered to Nigerian forces.
In operations across Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina, troops from the 8 Division and 17 Brigade arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Shinkafi and Kankara, seizing cash, motorcycles, and narcotics. In Sabon Birni (Sokoto), soldiers intercepted fleeing insurgents and seized an AK-47, magazines, and 51 rounds of ammunition.

Joint security forces in Kogi State, including troops from 12 Brigade, police, and local vigilantes, launched operations in Okene, Kabba Bunu, and Omala LGAs, freeing four kidnapped victims and neutralising an armed herder. Two AK-47 rifles and ammunition were recovered at the scene.
In the Federal Capital Territory, troops from the 102 Guards Battalion apprehended five suspected kidnappers in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, who had been posing as police officers.
Troops seized two fabricated AK-47 rifles, cartridges, communication radios, mobile phones, and fake ID cards.
In Rivers State, troops of the 16 Brigade and Sector 3, Operation Delta Safe, shut down several illegal refining sites in JK4, Edegberr, and Abiama Obeama communities, seizing over 4,000 litres of stolen crude oil, along with refining equipment such as ovens and receivers.
Elsewhere, in Edo State, soldiers from the 4 Brigade rescued a kidnapped victim during a gun duel in Esan South East LGA, forcing the abductors to flee into surrounding forests.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its determination to rid the country of terrorism and organised crime. It assured citizens of continued protection, particularly in vulnerable rural communities, in support of national efforts to enhance food production, rebuild local economies, and ensure a secure environment for sustainable development.
