The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other sister agencies, has relaunched “Exercise Still Water” in Ogbia, Bayelsa State, with the primary goal of combating all forms of criminality within its area of operation for the remainder of the year leading up to the Yuletide season.

Exercise “still water” is a yearly military operation put together to combat pipeline vandalism, kidnappings and other sundry crimes perpetrated during the Yuletide season across the six states of the Niger Delta region.

However, this year’s launch coincides with the perennial floods that are currently ravaging communities in Bayelsa State, for which the Army hopes to increase its quota in order to alleviate the victims’ plight while also carrying out its primary duties.

The Bayelsa State Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, flags off the exercise at the 16 brigades forward operating base in Otuokpoti, Ogbia. He commends the Nigerian army for their efforts in curbing crimes and criminality in the state.

As a way of promoting civil-military relations, in the midst of the daunting flood challenges, the army also conducts a medical outreach to help locals in the Otuokpoti community.

The Army is very confident of bequeathing a safe atmosphere for the Christmas Celebrations in December.
