The Theatre Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force of Operation Fashin Yamma, Major General Idris Warrah, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to intensifying operations aimed at eliminating banditry in the North-West and across the country.
Speaking while addressing troops undergoing training at the 8 Division headquarters in Sokoto, Major General Warrah said no effort would be spared in restoring peace to communities affected by bandit attacks.
He emphasised that professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to military regimentation remain central to achieving operational success.
“The Nigerian Army is not set to dance or party with bandits. We are strengthening our operational capacity through proper regimentation and discipline,” he said, urging troops to remain mentally prepared and focused on sustaining the current tempo of operations.
Warrah, who was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, inspected facilities at the Division’s training unit as part of his familiarisation and oversight tour of sector and sub-sector formations.
He reminded the troops that the military carries the responsibility of ensuring the safety of civilians and restoring stability in the North-West.
The Commander commended recent operational gains, including the clearance of bandit hideouts and the recovery of weapons.
“You have to give your best. The Armed Forces are ready to take care of you adequately, including personnel who sustain injuries in the line of duty,” he said, adding that troops should convey the appreciation of the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff to their families for their continued support.
At the Illela 248 Recce Battalion, Major General Warrah inspected accommodation and adjoining facilities.
Addressing the troops there, he urged them to improve their operational tempo, praising the battalion’s role in recent engagements against the Lakurawa bandits.
“Your resilience, discipline and respect are the foundation upon which the military was built,” he told the soldiers, reaffirming the Army’s determination to confront banditry decisively.
