The Arewa Concern Youth has described the call for the sack of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle as uncalled for.They described the move as the handiwork of enemies of peace and progress who do not mean well for Nigeria and it’s citizens.
Chairman of the Group, Abdu Bala Gusau stated this at a press conference held in Gusau, the capital city of Zamfara.
Nigeria’s Minister of state for Defence, Bello Matawalle was Zamfara State Governor between 2019 and 2023.
He was also a former Commissioner in Zamfara between 1999 to 2003 and later as Member of the House of Representatives for three terms between 2003- 2019.
While at the National Assembly, according to the group, Matawalle chaired various Committees including committee on Army and Intelligence for several years and where they believed he did excellently well.
The Arewa Concern Youth insists, the former Zamfara is qualified and already doing well in his current position as minister of state for Defence
The Group added that Nigeria is lucky to have such a committed, dedicated and hard working person of Bello Matawalle to occupy the office of the Minister of state for Defence, especially at this time that the country is faced with security challenges.
” Bello Matawalle’s track record as Federal Lawmaker, the positions he held and his contributions to Nigeria’s Development and securing it’s territorial integrity is enough to qualify him for any position” Abdu Said.
” Those calling for his sack are not doing well for Nigeria and Democracy” he added.
” We are Nigerian citizens and we love this country as we have no other place than this, so, we will not support anything that will cause disunity among peace loving citizens” the statement reads.
The Arewa Concern Youths appeal to those availing their self to be used by selfish politicians to desist as such attitude will never yield positive results.
” We appeal to our fellow youths whom some selfish politicians are using for this unholy act to desist as we will not hesitate to condemn any act capable of causing disunity among Nigerians”.
“We also call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Peace loving citizens to disregard any sponsored call or Demonstration calling for the sack of the Minister of state For Defence, Bello Matawalle whom the whole world knows his assumption into office as minister has brought alot of positive change in the nation’s security architecture”
