About 200 IDP households taking refuge at CAN Centre Camp, have benefited from food and non food items donated by EYN Disaster Ministry.

This gesture is aimed at cushioning the effect of the 13 year hardship caused by the Boko Haram Insurgency.

Maiduguri, Capital of Borno state, North East Nigeria is home to millions of people displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency.

The state government has begun closing some IDP camps as calm has begun to return and many communities have been liberated.

But the IDP camp at the CAN center is still open as it is home to thousands largely from Gwoza Local Council.

The food and non-food goods supplied to over 200 IDP households are expected to last a while, but they still urge the government to do everything necessary to ensure their safe return to their places of abode so that they can resume their livelihood.

This they believe would enable them cater for the needs of their families sufficiently.

The Director-general Borno State Emergency management Agency (BOSEMA) , Hajiya Ya Bawa Kolo, has earlier pledged to sustain humanitarian support to all displaced persons in the state and those living within host communities.

She said this became necessary to cushion the effect of their hardship, stressing that government under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum is doing everything within a short period of time to relocate them back to their ancestral homes just like other camps that have already been closed officially.
