Customs CG urges Nigerians to stop patronising contrabands

The Acting Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi has declared zero tolerance to smuggling under his watch and wants Nigerians to stop patronizing contrabands in order to boost the economy of the nation.

He made this known in Abeokuta during his working visit to Ogun 1 Area Command where he displayed large amount contrabands seized from smugglers in the state.

Officers of Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service have been commended by the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi for their efforts in ensuring reduction of smuggling activities in the area.

He made this known while showcasing seizures made by officers of the Command led by Ahmadu Shuaibu.

The seized items include foreign parboiled rice, means of conveyance, cannabis sativa, used tyres among others.

He said the economy of the nation can only be better if Nigerians buy made in Nigeria goods and do away with smuggling or smuggled items.

The Comptroller General added that the Customs is working with other sister security agencies including the federal road safety in order to prevent smuggled vehicles from being registered.
