Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has commissioned the first phase of the Ila-Orangun Township Road Dualisation, describing the project as a major step in his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving connectivity across the state.
The governor disclosed this in a statement shared on his official X handle on Friday, July 24.
According to Adeleke, the newly inaugurated 3.5-kilometre Phase One of the dual carriageway is expected to boost economic activities, improve transportation and enhance access to key public facilities in the ancient town.

He said, “This dual carriageway is more than a road; it is a lifeline for commerce, mobility and safety. It will open Ila-Orangun to greater investment, ease the movement of farm produce, and improve access to schools, hospitals and the palace, reaffirming our belief that development must reach every community.”
The governor said the project forms part of his administration’s wider infrastructure renewal programme for Ila-Orangun and other parts of Osun State.

He noted that, in addition to the dual carriageway, the government has completed more than seven kilometres of intra-city roads in Ila-Orangun, while construction will continue in phases until the entire 10-kilometre dualisation project is completed.
Adeleke also announced the approval of additional road rehabilitation projects, including the Ikirun–Ila Road, the Ila Local Government Secretariat–Oyi Ayegunle Road, the Ajaba–Iresi Road and the second phase of the Ila Township Road Dualisation extending to Idi Odan.
The governor further disclosed that his administration would review the employment status of ad hoc and part-time workers at the College of Education, Ila-Orangun, with the aim of converting eligible staff to full-time employment.
He said, “We will review the employment status of the ad hoc and part-time staff of the College of Education, Ila-Orangun, with a view to converting them to full-time employment.”
Reaffirming his administration’s development agenda, Adeleke added, “We remain focused on improving lives by building roads that connect communities, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for our people.”
