The Adamawa State police command has arrested three suspects, including a biological son of the victim, in connection with the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu, officials have said.

The arrests followed a joint operation by police officers and members of the Miyetti Allah group at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jera village, Malabu district, within Fufore local government area of the state.

In a statement made available to TVC News, the police public relations officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the operation was part of sustained, intelligence-led efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

Nguroje said the operation was carried out after the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu on 30 January 2026, in line with directives from the commissioner of police, Dankombo Morris, to intensify action against criminal elements.

Three suspects were apprehended during the raid: Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28 — all residents of Jera village. Police said Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu is the biological son of the abducted man.

According to the statement, all three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim unharmed and to arrest other members of the alleged kidnapping syndicate.

The commissioner of police commended the collaboration between the police and local security groups, and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
Police said further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
