A two-day zonal level training on first aid skills, evaluation techniques and safe schools declaration phase 1, has been held in katsina to prepare students for eventualities.
It is part of the state government’s initiative to ensure school environments are friendlier and safer.
After two days of rigorous training, the students displayed first aid skills to the admiration of guests and students who were bpresent to show support for the participants.

Amina Musa, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, described how the training has made them better prepared for disaster management.
The training session is organised by the ministry of education in collaboration with the red cross society of Nigeria.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the programme at the Government Girls’College, Katsina, the state Chairman of the Red Cross, Dr. Aliyu Idris Funtua, said that, “the training is designed to acquaint the students with techniques on First Aid administration, management of emergency and disaster cases in times of crises.”
He listed some of the activities of the Red Cross in the state to include, participation in immunisation and cholera control programmes, hospital welfare services, youth vocational training and correctional centres hygiene and sanitation programmes, among other initiatives.
According to him, “the branch has trained over 3000 members as first aiders and provided basic First Aid for Regular Marshalls of the Federal Road Safety Corps
“In addition, over 800 volunteers from across the state have received emergency training on disaster management.
Six thousand participants were selected from schools in the Katsina zone for phase 1 training.
The training will also form the basis for the inauguration of safe school clubs across the state.
